I'm sorry I couldn't think of a better title. I'll work on it for the next blog. So I know I haven't blogged in a while, sorry about that. No cute African children to report on here.

Life at home: has been intersting. I love being here, I absolutely  love seeing family and spending time hanging out with friends. It's been really refreshing and just good. But it's bittersweet, because while I'm loving sleeping in my own house, I miss Africa. I miss the people I met, my team and not having to shave. (Kidding on that last one... or am I???.) Honestly, I didn't realize how many distractions I would have here. I mean in South Africa, my life was scheduled out and because our days were busy our time with God was set for 8:30- 9:30 and whenever else at night. Between those times everyone else was diving into the Word and so there weren't big distractions. It has been a struggle for me to find a quiet place and just sit with God. I think that's really what I miss. It's sad though that God had to take me across the world to learn how valuable time with our Creator is.

God has been showing me through all of this frustration that we are called to fight. And if we are going to commit to separate ourselves and focus in on His will, we need to fight against the distractions, worries and craziness of our lives. We don't need to fight to meet Him, He's here waiting for us, that's the beauty of it. So that's what I'm up to I guess, loving being home with my family and friends, and fighting.

Kibera, Kenya: You've probably heard about the political uprise that has erupted in Kenya. It's post-presidential election and needless to say people aren't happy. If you want to hear more about what's going on msnbc has a lot of coverage on it. The big places that are making the headlines are Nairobi and the shantytowns, Kibera. Kibera is where I will be staying, our apartment is about a ten minute walk away. AIM has people in Kibera and they are assessing what's going on. I don't mean to sound like a hippie but you can't always trust the news for the best facts. That is really all I know right now, I'll let you know if I hear anything new. We're not called to live in fear, the people of Kibera need to know that Christ loves them and is bigger than anything else. Please join my team and I in praying for Kibera and Nairobi and praying that God will show up and change this nation for Him. Pray that He will comfort hearts and cast out fear. Pray that He will settle those that are angry and give wisdom. Please just join me in praying for the nation of Kenya, for the city of Nairobi and the slum of Kibera. God reigns over all of this and above all we're called to follow His plan.

Happy New Year, I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, mine was basically the coolest Christmas ever being stuck in my house after the snow with my family. No I'm not being sarcastic, we had a lot of fun, there are times when having four siblings comes in handy. Peace!
