Oh ya! You better start jumping because I have some amazing news. British Airways bumped up their date and i got a full refund on my ticket!!! Yes! Praise Him! God is good, I mean like really good, the word good doesn't cut it. He's great! ( now all we need is Tony the Tiger to jump up and say that). Now I have a flight to Johannesburg out on the 18th. But it was way cheaper to fly to Seattle and leave from there, so I'm leaving Denver on the 17th! Then I will fly to Swaziland! Airlines must love people like me.
Now you may ask yourself, can there be more good news?
Oh, there can be, God's that cool.
I just got an e-mail from Dave Gross, the AIM director that's helping us all out, or should I say putting up with our millions of questions (Thanks Dave!). He gave us some information on where we will be living and what we will be doing. Here is said e-mail (I've hightlighted the big stuff, which was a lot) :
"Kenya" FYM team,
We have made arrangements for your team to minister in the Mbabane/Ezulwini area of Swaziland. We have put together a brief description of what the area is like and the ministry opportunities possible there. I appreciate your flexibility and desire to be involved in ministry even though it's not in Kenya.
Mbabane/Ezulwini Area
Mbabane is the capital of Swaziland. It is the Governmental center of the country. It has about 80,000 inhabitants. The US embassy, a full service mall, and the largest government hospital are all located in Mbanane. It is in the higher altitude part of the country with beautiful mountains and greenery everywhere. The climate is cooler than that found in Manzini. ( this is important because hello! I'm from Denver.)
Ezulwini means "Heaven" in siSwati. The Ezulwini valley sits below the city of Mbanane and is in some ways a suburb of the capital. There are tourist amenities in Ezulwini including the countries largest craft market.
The house is located in a new housing development and has good security with a guard, high wall, and electric fence protecting the whole neighborhood. The FYM program in Swaziland was actually housed in this same area beginning 2004 and there are still multiple ministry contacts in the area. The house is less than 2 years old, has 4 bedrooms and will have modern bathroom and kitchen facilities.
Transportation will involve primarily public transport - although the team will have an AIM vehicle as well. Public Transport is a 5-10 minute walk from the house. A "Kombie" ride up the road to Mbabane is about 20 minutes up (and about 10 minutes down!)
Ministry opportunities include:
· Hospital in Mbabane - men's ward, women's ward, large children's ward.
· 2 high schools in Mbabane where we have done discipleship and abstinence groups in the past.
· Teacher assistants in 2 elementary schools in Ezulwini.
· 3 vulnerable children care points located in Ezulwini.
· English Teacher for a program designed for older kids who are unable to go to school but need English for jobs.
· Street ministry in Mbabane.
· A Mosque is located on the road behind the neighborhood where the team will live.
· Several NGO's are located in Mbabane. With some networking, there may be some ability to help with some of their activities
Now I realize that all this good news is about my trip. But please just see a testament to how God works and moves even in the strangest of ways, like through airline companies. I would love to here about you and your family. Shoot me an e-mail! Go up to "Talk to me" Or "Contact me," not sure which one it is. or you can jsut e-mail me: livin4himdaily@msn.com
Thank you so much for your continued support! Peace!
Please continue to be in prayer for Kenya. Although God may not have me there right now, one day. You cna go to bbc.com and read new articles about what's going on!
