This Is Africa! That's what we say whenever something crazy happens- which is frequent.
Hello! Hello! I am
back in South Africa
and loving it. This past week I went back and visited Eskom (if I spell it
differently every time I write it-sorry). I pictures up, I don't have the ones
with all the kids yet because I didn't take those on my camera. So I promise I
am going out and loving on people J. Wow okay.
Last Saturday we went
to a game park in Swaziland.
I saw wild hippos, ostriches, a lot of deer creatures, wildebeest (the things
that killed Mufasa in Lion King), warthogs, and a giant crocodile. It was a
game park where you can just walk around so there weren't any lions or really
cool animals.
We left Swaziland on Monday
and started back into the groove of ministry on Tuesday. I went back to Eskom
and I am really starting to build relationships there. I'm trying to get to
know all the parents of the kids that I met. Please be praying for these
families. Cynthia is 27 and she has an adorable baby, Matepelo (Prayer).
Cynthia goes to a ZCC church, which claims to be Christian but doesn't exactly
follow the Bible. ZCC is way too popular in S.A. and very corrupt. Pray that
Cynthia finds Truth and that she sees freedom in the true Jesus.
I have become really
close with a little boy named Alan. His parents are good, but don't really pay
a lot of attention to him. He doesn't go to school so him and I hang out all
day. Yesterday I showed him my Bible and just tried to get the name Jesus in
his head. He was with us when we were praying over some ladies and I had told
him that prayer is talking to Jesus. During the prayer he kept looking at me
and saying "Jesus?" By the end of yesterday I would look at him and say "Alan,
Jesus loves…?" and he would yell "Alan!" His English isn't very good at all,
but our God is bigger than any language barriers. Please pray for his family,
they told me they believe God exists, He just isn't for them. Pray that Alan
understands and that a seed is planted in His head.
Please lift up some
ladies I met in the community, Thyto, Priscilla and Porshia. I went with Carol
to lead a Bible Study with them yesterday, but really the Lord spoke through
her and I was talking to Alan.
The kids I met in the
street of Eskom I see again everyday when they get home from school. Sedzani,
one of the little girls, I learned that her home life isn't always safe and she
came out with a cut on her head and there was just something not right. Please pray
for her and her little sister, just that God will protect them and show them
who their Father is.
Ok so the big thing
kind of going on is that we are all choosing where we want to go next semester.
God has definitely been changing my heart, well re-aligning it with His. An opportunity
came up to work with a ministry called G-42 in Swaziland next semester.
G-42 is about raising
up a generation of Swazis to change Swaziland. I have no idea if God
wants me to work with G-42 or go to FYM Swazi or FYM Kenya. Right now He is
just telling me to wait and be still and when He speaks I will know. So please
just pray for direction.
God has been working
so much here and just showing me new and really cool things. I am absolutely
loving it and the call on my life for missions, wherever that is, is becoming
clearer. I miss you all at home and am figuring out the best way of
communicating, so it'll get easier. I love you all and thank you so much for
praying and supporting me in so many different ways! Send me an e-mail and let
me know how things are. I will post some pics of Eskom and the kids in Swazi
and soon as I have them.
Love you! -Chelsea
